Which words could you list related to “morality”?

I can’t relate unless I put the names in their proper function. First, I need to talk about “what is moral.” Moral is a vision about the world that exists when you are inside a culture. Outside of culture, there is no moral. Moral is like a scale of values in society. In this scale of values, there are social judgment, status in the social classes, and roles in society.

First: Judgment

In the book Suicide, Durkheim speaks about “social coercion.” It means a factor that influences the individual’s response to interaction in society. It raises the question: how do other people influence my decisions? In extreme cases, an individual commits suicide because of social judgment. In this context, he refers to Japanese society as an example.

Second: Status in the social classes

Some years ago, you could not marry someone from another social class. If you were part of the bourgeoisie, you could not marry someone from the working class. This behavior was considered immoral in Europe in the 15th century. Marriage was strongly determined by social status. Today, this rigid social determination seems extreme or even irrational to us.

Third: Roles in society

Another example is gay marriage. For some people, it is immoral, while for others it is a normal and ethical decision. This shows how moral judgments depend on social roles, cultural values, and historical context.

Conclusion

Morality does not exist outside of a community. It is also not purely individual. It is a combination of many elements, among them culture. Morality is formed through the interaction between individuals and the social values shared within a community.
I can say that morality is volatile over time and depends on the type of society. For that reason, I cannot enumerate fixed elements; I can only mention some scales of values.
